Yes. Email your tax exemption certificate to support@catercow.com, and we’ll apply your exemption to future orders your organization places.
Check whether your organization is tax exempt
Click Manage Organization under your organization’s name, then open the Settings tab. The Tax Exemption section says whether your organization is marked as tax exempt. If your company orders from more than one organization on CaterCow, check each one.
Tax-exempt orders at checkout
Once your organization is marked as tax exempt, new orders start with This order is tax exempt checked in the Payment section at checkout. Sales tax comes off the order, and both your order total and your receipt show Sales Tax Exempt where the tax would be.
If an order shouldn’t be tax exempt, uncheck the box before you place it.
Paying by invoice is set up separately. See How does invoicing work for my organization?
What if…
…checkout says tax exemption isn’t available? In some states, we can’t process tax-exempt orders. For an order in one of them, checkout shows “Tax exemption isn’t available for orders in this state,” and the order is charged sales tax. The state is where the order is delivered, or where the restaurant is for a pickup order.
…I started an order before my organization was marked as tax exempt? That order didn’t start with the box checked. Check This order is tax exempt at checkout before you place it.
…I’ve already placed an order that should be tax exempt? Placed orders don’t change on their own when your organization is marked as tax exempt. Email us at support@catercow.com with the order number. We can refund its sales tax as long as we haven’t paid the restaurant for it yet. Orders we’ve already paid out can’t be changed, but your exemption applies to every order from then on.
