Group Orders

How do I set my dietary restrictions and food allergies?

Save your allergies, dislikes, and diet to your CaterCow account once, and they apply to every group order you join.

On this page

Log in, open Account, and set them under Dietary & Allergy Settings. They’re saved to your account, so they apply to every group order you join. The video above walks through it.

Set your allergies and diet

1. From your meal calendar, open Account and scroll down to Dietary & Allergy Settings. Each change you make here saves right away. There’s no save button.

2. Under Dietary Requirements, choose Vegan, Vegetarian, or Gluten-Free if you follow that diet. We use these to choose which meals to recommend to you. They aren’t shared with restaurants.

3. Under Allergies & Food Preferences, choose Allergic next to each food you can’t eat. We share your allergies with the restaurant and your organizer, next to your meal.

4. Choose Dislike next to each food you’d rather skip. We use dislikes for recommendations only. We don’t share them with restaurants or your organizer.

5. If an allergy isn’t on the list, tap Add an allergy we don’t list. Type the food, then tap Add. To add several at once, separate them with commas. Each one shows under Also allergic to: and is shared with the restaurant like any other allergy.

6. If your account has no phone number, we ask you to add one at the top of the page, in case the restaurant needs to reach you about your allergies.

To remove a food, tap its selected option again or tap Clear next to it. To remove one you added, tap the × next to it. Clear All clears every Allergic and Dislike choice but leaves your diet and the foods you added. If any allergies are set, we ask you to confirm first.

How your allergies show up on a menu

  • Peanuts or Tree Nuts: menu options marked as containing nuts can’t be chosen, and you’ll see “Some options may be disabled due to your nut allergy.” To choose one anyway, tap Open Dietary Filters and check Enable Options I May Be Allergic To, then tap Submit Filter. That changes the menu only for the order you’re on.
  • Wheat: if you pick a meal that isn’t marked gluten-free, you’ll see Contains gluten under it.
  • Any other allergy: the menu doesn’t flag it, so check each dish’s description before you pick it. The restaurant still sees the allergy next to your meal. To add a note for the restaurant, use the meal’s Special Request box, when the restaurant allows special requests.

You can also change your list while you pick a meal, under Dietary Requirements & Allergies. It’s the same list as on your Account page, so a change in either place updates both. See where to see all your upcoming meals.

Picking a meal without an account?

You need to be logged in to save allergies. If you pick your meal with a guest link, use the meal’s Special Request box instead, when the restaurant allows special requests.
