It depends on the menu you start from. With a package, your team picks from a short list of preset meals. With a restaurant’s full menu, they pick individual dishes. Either way, you set up the group order, share it with your team, and review responses the same way.
Package group orders
A package comes with a set of meal options — think “chicken + rice + side.” When you set up the group order, you choose which of those options to offer (you can leave some out), and each person on your team picks one.
Some packages also let you check Allow Your Teammates to Build Their Own Meals. Your team can then put together their own meal from the package’s menu instead of only picking a preset option.
On your team’s meal calendar, a package group order shows the package’s name, with “By” and the restaurant’s name under it.
Full-menu group orders
Some restaurants let your team order from their full menu, the same way you’d order a la carte. Start one from the Group Order button on the restaurant’s page. When you set it up, you choose which dishes to offer, and each person picks from them.
Some packages work this way too: your team picks individual dishes instead of preset meals.
On your team’s meal calendar, a full-menu group order shows only the restaurant’s name.
Changing a group order’s setup
- Your team can’t build their own meal? That package group order doesn’t have Allow Your Teammates to Build Their Own Meals turned on, or the package doesn’t offer it. If the package offers it, you can check it when you set up the group order. If the restaurant offers full-menu group orders, you can start one of those instead.
- Need to change which restaurant, package, or menu a group order uses after you’ve set it up? You can’t do that yourself from your account. Email us at support@catercow.com and we’ll help you swap it over.
