On this page
Create a deal from the Deals page of your caterer dashboard. You pick the discount and the code, and it’s ready for customers to use at checkout as soon as you save it. The video above walks through the whole flow.
For example, take the deal the video creates: 10% off, free delivery, and a $100 minimum. An order with $80 of food is under the minimum, so the code doesn’t apply. For $150 of food and a $20 delivery fee, 10% of $170 is $17, and free delivery takes off the $20 fee, so the customer saves $37.
Create a deal
1. From your caterer dashboard, open Deals under Customer Relations. The page lists the deals you’ve already made.
2. Click Add Deal. The Create A New Deal form opens.
3. Set the discount. Enter a Discount Amount ($) or a Discount Percentage (%) — a deal can take one or the other off, not both. Use a whole number; a percentage can be anywhere from 1 to 99.
4. To add free delivery, check Also Add Free Delivery. A deal can offer free delivery by itself, with no discount, or on top of a discount.
5. Enter the Deal Code customers will type at checkout. Codes can’t include spaces or special characters like % or $, and they’re changed to all capital letters. Each of your deals needs its own code.
6. Choose how the deal behaves:
- Promote Publicly? is checked by default. It shows the deal to every customer on your package page.
- One-Time Use Only? limits the deal to one use by one customer, like an apology credit or a one-off offer. Checking it turns off Promote Publicly? and First Time Customers Only?.
- First Time Customers Only? limits the deal to customers who haven’t ordered from you before.
7. To set an order minimum, check Require order minimum in order to use this deal, then enter the amount under Minimum Order $ Size.
8. To end the deal on a set date, click Add expiration date and pick the date. Without one, the deal stays active until you delete it.
9. Click Create Deal. The deal appears in the Active tab with its code and a summary of the offer, like “Free Delivery And 10% Off Orders Of $100.00+”. Customers can use the code at checkout right away.
How deal codes work
- Customers can use one deal code per order.
- An order minimum counts the food subtotal only. Delivery fees, tax, and tip don’t count toward it.
- You can’t edit a deal’s code, discount, minimum, or expiration date after you save it. To change any of those, click Delete Deal and create a new deal with a different code.
- A percentage discount comes off the food, the delivery fee, and any surcharges together, before tax, the service fee, and tip. A dollar discount comes off the same total, and never takes off more than the order costs.
- Codes from deleted deals can’t be reused. Deleted deals move to the Deleted tab and can’t be used at checkout.
- You can switch Promote Publicly? and First Time Customers Only? on or off from the deal’s card on the Deals page. The change saves right away. One-time-use deals don’t have these settings.
- When a deal is less than 2 months from its expiration date, its card shows the date. Once it expires, it moves to the Expired tab.
What if something doesn’t work?
- The form won’t save. Every deal needs a deal code and at least one of a dollar discount, a percentage discount, or free delivery. The form tells you which is missing.
- The code is already taken. Each of your deals needs its own code, and codes from deleted deals still count. Pick a different code.
- Add Deal is grayed out. Your team role doesn’t include creating deals. Ask an Admin or Manager on your account to create it, or to change your role. See What can each role on my team see and do?.
