How do I print meal labels for my orders?

Every order you accept comes with meal labels and a prep checklist. They're attached to your order email, and you can print them again from the order's page.

CaterCow makes meal labels and a prep checklist for every order you accept. Both are attached to the email we send when you accept the order, and you can print them again anytime from the order’s page.

Printing labels from an order

1. Open the order from your Orders page. Once you’ve accepted it, the top of the page has a Checklist PDF button that opens your kitchen’s prep checklist, and a button for labels. The labels button says Print Individual Meal Labels or Print Label Tents, depending on how the order is served.

2. Click the labels button to open the Download Labels window.

3. Choose the kind of labels you want:

  • Print Sticker Labels Only prints every item as a sticker label for Avery 8163 sticker paper, 10 labels per sheet.
  • Print Label Tents Only prints every item as a tent on regular 8.5″ x 11″ paper, for you to cut out and fold.
  • Print Both Types prints buffet items as tents and individual items as sticker labels. You can choose it only when the order has both.

4. Click Print Sticker Labels or Print Label Tents. Your labels open as a PDF in a new tab, ready to print. Print sticker labels at Letter size and 100% scale, so they line up with the stickers.

How meal labels work

  • Every order you accept comes with meal labels and a prep checklist, attached to the email we send you.
  • On a group order, each guest gets a label with their name and the meal they picked.
  • Buffet orders get label tents instead, which you cut out and fold to set in front of each tray.
  • When you accept changes to an order, we email you updated labels and an updated checklist. You can also print fresh copies from the order’s page anytime.

Group order labels

On a group order, each guest’s label shows their name and the meal they picked, plus any allergies or special request they added. Every meal has to go out labeled this way, so label tents aren’t available for group orders. A label that says “Extra Meal” instead of a name is for an extra meal on the order.

Sticker labels on other orders

On an individually packaged order, you get a label for each meal, and add-ons get labels too. Smaller items, like sides or snacks, can share one label for the whole quantity, for example “12x Chocolate Chip Cookie.”

Label tents for buffet orders

For buffet-style orders, we make label tents instead: at least one for each dish, and more on larger orders. They aren’t made for sticker paper. Print them on regular paper or card stock, then cut and fold them into tents to set in front of each tray.
