Payouts

How do I verify my identity with Stripe to get paid?

Why CaterCow asks you to verify your identity with Stripe, what info you'll need, and what to do if verification gets stuck.

On this page

We send your payouts through Stripe, our payments processor, and Stripe has to verify who you are before it moves money into your bank account. Until your legal entity finishes verifying, its kitchens can’t take CaterCow marketplace orders or get payouts from us. Your own in-house orders aren’t affected.

What you’ll need

Verification happens on a secure page hosted by Stripe, not CaterCow, and usually takes a few minutes. Have this ready before you start:

  • Your personal details: either the last 4 digits of your SSN or a photo of your government-issued ID
  • If your business is registered: your Employer Identification Number (EIN), registered business address, and business phone number

If you don’t have these on hand, invite a teammate who does to finish this step for you.

Verify your details

1. From your Caterer Dashboard, go to Legal & Bank Accounts, open the legal entity you want to verify, and select the ID Verification tab.

2. Select the button to verify your details. You’ll be taken to a Stripe-hosted page to enter your information.

3. Complete the steps on Stripe’s site, then you’ll be redirected back to CaterCow.

Check your verification status

Your changes can take a minute to show up after you finish on Stripe. Refresh the ID Verification tab to check your status.

  • All set: your account is ready to accept orders. There’s nothing else to do.
  • Missing Information: Stripe still needs something from you. The tab lists what’s outstanding.

Your legal entity’s entry on Legal & Bank Accounts also shows two checkboxes:

  • Can Accept Orders? shows whether this legal entity can take new orders.
  • Can Receive Payouts? shows whether Stripe can send money to your bank account.

One can be checked before the other while Stripe finishes processing. A newly verified account can sometimes accept orders before payouts are turned on. If either isn’t checked, open the ID Verification tab for that legal entity to see what’s missing.

If verification stalls

If Stripe can’t verify your documents, it doesn’t mean you did anything wrong. Email us at support@catercow.com and we’ll verify your account manually.

If your account has shown Missing Information for a while and you’re not sure why, email us too. Stripe sometimes asks for a document type that isn’t obvious from the summary.
