Taco platters are a buffet-style, pre-assembled taco catering option! They are a great alternative to taco bars because they are less work for your team! However, preassembled offerings are not quite as customizable as building your own taco would be.
Best Practices and Tips when Ordering Taco Platters
Tacos in a taco platter will arrive pre-assembled but some of the wet ingredients (salsa, sour cream, guacamole etc.) may be included on the side to keep the tacos from getting soggy. You may want to order for higher than your headcount as folks earlier in the buffet line may take more than their allotment. Similarly, you'll want to over-order any additional buffet style sides or add-ons as everyone's idea of a "full portion" might be a little bit different.

Corn tortillas are excellent gluten-free alternatives and they taste great, too. You can't go wrong ordering corn tortillas over flour ones for the whole team.
How many tacos are recommended per person?
For a lunch order, we try to make sure caterers provide each person with 3 tacos. After all, people eat with their eyes first - they will usually take 3 tacos in the buffet line. But if a caterer insists on offering 2 per person, we push them to also offer additional sides.
What goes well with taco platters?
Chips and salsa, churros, and salads are all great additions to a taco platter meal! It also never hurts to include more guacamole since that will run out quickly!
Are all sides vegan/vegetarian?
Most sides will be suitable for vegans and vegetarians but it is important to pay attention to the (V) or (VG) designations on each item. For instance, rice and beans as a side might have been cooked in chicken stock and they might be topped with cotija cheese.
